William
before william came to philly house, he certainly never expected to become homeless in his lifetime.
He slept out on the streets because entering a shelter was the last place that he thought he’d be.
Last year, William survived on the streets, enduring hunger, constant despair and the brutally cold winter.
He shared: “You can’t really sleep. It’s uncomfortable, you don’t know who is going to walk by you. You can’t take the chance to even fall asleep, because you just don’t know.”
But his life finally changed when he came to Philly House for help. William is now in our Next Level program, a transitional housing program that continues to work with our clients while preparing for the next steps toward permanent housing. And, living together in community with others is an important piece for William.
Therefore, when William was invited by the CEO of Philly House to go sailing, he accepted the opportunity to enjoy the comradery of his fellow residents.
To meet the urgent needs of those who are homeless and hurting this winter, we need to raise $282,000 by February 28, 2025. This amount represents a whole month of our operating expenses.
The Bible promises, “There will be a booth for shade by day from the heat, and for a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain.” Isaiah 4:6 (ESV)
Conquering fears is a difficult part of life. But, Philly House in many occasions seek to open the horizons of those whom we serve. And sailing with our CEO is one way that we do that.
Private donations from caring people like you afford us the opportunity to transform lives.
