Hope Lives Here.

HELPING THE HUNGRY, homeless AND HURTING.

We are Philly House.

Philly’s largest and longest-running homeless shelter for men.

With 148+ years of experience, we are the second oldest homeless mission in the country and the oldest in Pennsylvania, housing up to 164 men each night. More than just a meal and a bed, we build relationships with our guests to give them hope and reorient their lives.

Our Christian faith is the foundation of everything we do and compels us to treat everyone—our guests, volunteers and donors—with dignity, respect, and compassion.

Sponsor a bed for one night for $25 and make a lasting difference in a man's journey to transformation.

Wondering what a $25 gift can really do?
By sponsoring a bed, you're providing more than just a place to rest and replenish—you're offering hope and a brighter future. A safe night's rest and 3 full meals in a supportive environment can be the spark that ignites growth, healing and transformation.

Your gift gives real help to a real person. Each night you sponsor, we can send you the initials and age of the person you're helping (if you agree). We'll invite you to say a quick prayer for this man, that he will embrace help and hope. Monthly sponsors also receive a magnet with the real bed number they're helping to support!

Stories of Hope

More than just a safe space, warm bed and a hot meal, we empower everyone we serve, activating their God-given potential for life transformation.

“I just want to say I’m grateful for all the shelter and the help. What you do counts. It helps people advance themselves!”

"It's a hope. A new beginning. A new start. When you come here, you feel that there is hope."

“Being surrounded by people who genuinely care gave me motivation to move forward and think positively about my future.”

The Need

For over 148 years, Philly House has been a physical and spiritual sanctuary, empowering those in need of food, shelter and hope in Philadelphia. A living legacy of John Wanamaker, we activate others’ God-given potential by serving the homeless, hungry and hurting through a wide range of loving, compassion-based programs and services.

As the city’s largest and longest-running shelter, Philly House provides a safe, clean refuge off the streets along with deep, intentional engagement to see a long-term impact.

In 2024, we sheltered 2,042* unique individual men experiencing homelessness - which represents 30% of all homeless men sheltered in the entire City of Philadelphia.

*according to Philadelphia’s Homeless Management Information System.
