Robert

Hi, My name is
Robert.

When Robert came to philly house, many things brought him anxiety and fear in his life.

Entering into our Emergency Shelter at first, he never thought of this becoming the place for him to ‘BELONG’. However, finding a family and a group of friends is what he encounters.

Joining our Next-Level Program on our fourth floor, Robert while volunteering in our kitchen as a dishwasher began to open up. Sharing his anxieties and releasing them into the care of our Lovely God became a normal practice for Robert.

I first entered looking for a shower and a place to stay. Being accepted for who I am feels really special!

Therefore, when Robert was invited by the CEO of Philly House to go sailing, he accepted the challenge.

Having never been on a sailboat, at the beginning while still standing on the dock, Robert was certainly nervous and anxious. When asked on a scale of 1-to-10 how scared he was, Robert affirmatively said, “TEN!”

Yet, after some instruction and experience, his ‘white knuckling’ experience relaxed into an enjoyable encounter.

Conquering fears is a difficult part of life. But, Philly House in many ocassions seek to open the horizons of those whom we serve. And sailing with our CEO is one way that we do that.
