If you are a woman in need of a place to stay for yourself and your children then consider Apple Tree Family Center, (215) 686-7150. Apple Tree Family Center is located at 1430 Cherry St, Philadelphia, PA 19102. It is open daily from 7AM to 3PM.

Philly House is located at 302 N. 13th Street in Philadelphia, just north of Vine Street. The closest public transportation is the Race/Vine stop of the Broad Street Line.

When you arrive, please use the entrance off Pearl Street.

We join with our community partners to serve the homeless, hungry and hurting through a wide range of loving, compassion-based programs and services.

Anyone can get a bed in our emergency shelter without a referral as long as they arrive by 7:00 p.m. Call our case manager at 215-922-6400 ext. 1028 or email us at casemanager@phillyhouse.org with any questions.

When we started in 1878, we simply served breakfast to men on Sunday mornings. Today we do so much more for the homeless, hungry and hurting in Philadelphia and we needed a name that expressed more than “Sunday” and “breakfast.”

Our new name—Philly House—reflects two foundational elements of who we are:

1. For more than 140 years, we’ve been proud to be Philadelphia’s largest and longest-running shelter, solely focused on serving this city we love.

2. We are a welcoming, safe, well-run refuge from the streets for the homeless, hungry and hurting—a place that treats everyone like family.

It starts with an image of a keystone—which represents both our heritage in the state of Pennsylvania and a foundational part of a house. Then it features an open door and a roof—that reflects our desire to be a welcoming, safe, clean refuge to the homeless, hungry and hurting.

The roof is also an arrow that symbolically points up to God, who is the one who offers us holistic transformation and unconditional love.

We remain steadfastly focused on serving the homeless, hungry and hurting with the same vision and mission: to open our doors 365 days a year to let them know that they are not alone and to activate others' God-given potential for life transformation.

If we change anything it will be to continue to enhance and expand our services to make an even greater, more holistic impact on the City of Philadelphia.
