Frequently Asked Questions

 
  • All volunteers on-site are required to be 18 or older. Minors are welcome to participate in any off-site volunteer opportunities.

  • Please email the Volunteer and Community Relations Manager, volunteer@phillyhouse.org, prior to your time of service if you are volunteering for service hours with an organization. However, please note that we cannot sign any requirements for direct supervision, such as a court-ordered community service.

  • Clothing should be casual and modest with no inappropriate language/logos, tank tops, shorts, leggings, exposed underwear or revealing items. Closed-toe shoes are required.

  • We welcome you to interact with our guests as we treat them with dignity and respect. No horseplay, fighting or foul language is tolerated. Please stay with your group at all times.

    Do not give any direct financial assistance or exchange any personal information, such as phone numbers, addresses or social media contact details.

    If you are approached about a severe or extraordinary need, please inform the volunteer manager or another nearby staff member.

  • You are welcome to take pictures of your group and a staff member will be glad to assist you.

    Out of respect, please do not take pictures of our guests.

  • Please give us a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or change your scheduled service opportunity.

  • No. Please do not bring any personal items, valuables or bags.

  • We have a free parking lot available to volunteers. It is permit only parking, and volunteers recieve a parking permit via email from our Volunteer and Community Relations Manager.
